Laurie is a Pre-Kindergarten teacher and has been teaching at New Life Preschool since 2001. What she loves about teaching most is watching the children progress and grow. Seeing how excited and proud they are when they accomplish a goal or master a skill. It is a wonderful blessing to be part of.

When she isn’t teaching, Laurie loves to be outdoors hiking and biking

with her family. Laurie attended Cuesta College for a few years where she acquired General Education and Early Childhood Development units towards her Associate in Arts Degree.

Laurie’s favorite bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Raciel Catacutan

Toddler Teacher

Raciel has finished her Bachelors in Secondary Education in the island of the Philippines. She is currently completing her Early Childhood courses at Allan Hancock College. Her playful attitude and energetic personality is what drew her to work with very young children. Witnessing the development of each child at a very young age continuously amazes her. She hopes to continue her education and learn more about what draws children to learn and enjoy learning.

Raciel is always up for trying new physical activities. She loves the outdoors and grew up appreciating the beaches and mountains around her. She enjoys learning about other cultures and traditions and has visited multiple Southeast Asian countries. She wishes to travel around the world and see the Northern Lights in Norway, Stone Heads in Chile, and the Nyvhan in Copenhagen.

“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

Sierra Day

Sierra Day attends Cuesta College and has planned on becoming a teacher since she could remember. Sierra has always had a passion for teaching others and helping young minds achieve things they didn’t know was possible. Sierra will be graduating in 2017 with her Liberal Arts and Humanities degree and hopes to transfer to either Cal Poly or Grand Canyon University.

When not working at New Life, Sierra works as a cook and enjoys hiking with her dogs, reading, and puzzling. Her favorite colors are natural greens and blues. Sierra has worked with kids since she was old enough to hold one. She believes no child is to young to experience the awesome love and mercy of God and enjoys teaching the gospel to anyone willing to listen. She loves nature, exercise, and believes a child’s happiness is best found in and nurtured through outdoor activities rather than screen time.

Two of Sierra’s favorite verses are John 15:13, “He whom has no greater love than this is to lay down one’s life for a friend.” and Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.”
