Mary Llamas

Mary graduated from USC with a Business degree in January 1979. Since she enjoyed working with children, she took classes in Early Childhood Education from Glendale Community College. A move to the southernmost portion of CA in 1988 brought her to Imperial Valley College, where she earned more ECE credits and co-taught her first class at TLC Preschool in Brawley until 1990. She moved to the Central Coast with her family in 1992, and was an occasional substitute teacher at Coast Christian Preschool in Arroyo Grande. She started with New Life Preschool in November 2006; she loves being a Teacher's Aide and can usually be found in the naproom and on the playground in the afternoons.

Mary's husband, Vince, is a Pastor of Care Ministry here at New Life and they have two college-age sons, David and Greg. Mary enjoys going for walks and reading everything (even dictionaries). She is a breast cancer survivor (2010).

Mary's favorite verse since she accepted Jesus as her Savior while in college is Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good

to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

This verse came to mean more during her cancer battle, because although

our circumstances may change, our God always remains the same - our Rock,

our Fortress, and our Strong Tower. He is Faithful!

Aleesha Klomp

Playground Teacher

Aleesha has been an educator for over twenty years. She first began her education in child development at College of the Sequoias in Visalia California. She taught preschool for three years before having her own two children.

In two thousand and ten her family moved to the Central Coast to work with Ywam Pismo. The Klomp Family lead Discipleship schools and students into cross cultural ministry for over six years. During their time as missionaries in China, Aleesha began to work with human trafficking victims through an organization called Starfish Project.

While working in Ywam Pismo she also partnered with another human trafficking ministry out of Bakersfield California called Magdalene Hope. After stepping out of Ywam, Aleesha and her husband pioneered an online ministry reaching out to trafficking victims along the central coast. They continued this ministry for over two years.

Aleesha, her husband Mike, sixteen year old daughter Jocelynn and thirteen year old son Gryphon have attended New Life Pismo Church for over two years. She is excited to become staff and teach preschoolers again. Her favorite Bible verse is found in John fifteen thirteen. It says "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

Nicole McGuire

In Nicole's free time she loves to go to the beach, go hiking, go camping, or just go grab a cup of coffee!

Nicole graduated from Cuesta with AA-T in psychology. She plans to continue to study psychology and education. She has always loved working with kids because they bring her so much joy and she sees God working in them every day. She also believes children are the most vulnerable members of our society, and that they are also the fastest learners! Nicole says, "It is a blessing to be able to help shape their hearts and minds." Her goal is to use her degree to help underprivileged children have the best quality of life possible.

Nicole's favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:3-5, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

Kaitlyn Poorman

Resource Aide

Kaitlyn Poorman has grown up on the Central Coast and feels incredibly blessed that such a beautiful place is her home. Kaitlyn attends Allan Hancock College and will be receiving her AA in Early Childhood Development in 2018. She plans to transfer to Cal Poly to further her education and one day become a teacher in a Children's Hospital.

Kaitlyn has had a passion for children ever since she was a little girl and would babysit with her mother. She believes loving on children is crucial to their growth, and that we learn from them just as much as they learn from us. They teach us to be fearless and love with open hearts. Kaitlyn is happiest when around children, and when surrounded by gigantic trees. When not at New Life, she is going on road trips to new places and challenging herself to new activities (or scary new foods).

Kaitlyn's favorite bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing.”
